March Minutes

Meeting Minutes:

Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the meeting minutes of February 16, 2017 were approved as published.

Director's Report:

Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the Director's report for February 2017 was approved.

Treasurer's Report:

Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the February 2017 Treasurer's report was approved, including abstract #3, vouchers 2017-47 - 2017-67 and an updated abstract #2A for vouchers 2017-31 – 2017-46.

Public Comment:

There was no public comment made

Committees:

Grants: PLS received a grant from Causewave (former Ad Council), to extend the Secret Shopper program, to improve library facilities and services.

Building and Grounds: Patricia and Carolyn provided a Board tour of the newly acquired property at 336 East Main Street.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the bid of Robert Barr from 56 Services, for asbestos testing, with the contract not to exceed $3,325.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept ReHouse’s offer of payment and removal of listed items.

NYSEG Energy Saver program is scheduled to install LED bulbs (and baffles as needed) throughout the Library on March 20.

Items for Discussion/Resolution:

  • Patricia spoke with Cindy Kukuvka about sharing her driveway. An easement survey will be required.

  • A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept John Page’s proposal for the parking lot to be constructed on 336 East Main Street property, post demolition.

  • Discussion of a professional audit of PCL finances will be ongoing. Patricia has spoken to several nearby libraries to see how they handle audits. Many questions remain and discussion will continue.

  • Discussion will continue on a name for the 3rd floor community space.

  • The Dixie Pritte awards will be held on Tuesday, June 6, at 7:00. Nominations were accepted for consideration.

  • A motion was made, seconded and approved to hire Donna Kelsey of B and D Art and Frames, to create a pen and ink drawing of the PCL, to be used in Library stationary.

  • Carolyn and Sandy attended Library Advocacy Day in Albany on March 1 and shared budgetary concerns with Robert Oaks’ office and with Senator Pam Helming.

  • The PCL will participate in the Community Wellness Fair at Pal-Mac HS on March 25.

  • Several Board members volunteered to help with the upcoming Friends of the Palmyra Library Book Sale, to be held from Wed. April 5- Sat., April 8.
